1. The Dak and Amari connection

Last year the Cowboys tried to run their offense using a committee approach at wide receiver. That proved quickly to be a mistake as defenses didn’t fear their receiving corps at all and zeroed in on Ezekiel Elliott and the running game. The result was a stagnant offense and a 3-4 start heading into the bye week.

That’s when they pulled the trigger on a deal for wide receiver Amari Cooper, who helped them rebound from their slow start. Cooper proved to have an immediate impact as he had 53 receptions for 725 yards and six touchdowns in nine games with the Boys. His performance with them pushed him over the 1,000-yard mark for the third time in his young career.

Now entering a contract year, Cooper is looking to earn an extension from Dallas and has the benefit of starting the season out with Dak Prescott. While the two did have an instant connection, it will be worth watching them throughout the offseason to see if their communication and rapport can move to the next level.

With both needing new deals, they really can benefit one another. Prescott is better with Cooper on the field and the former Oakland wideout has openly discussed how the two just seem to be on the same page.

Of course, this will still be a team that runs the ball 20-30 times a game. However, everything is easier when a player like Cooper can stretch the field which is why his and Dak’s connection will be so important.
