NFL 2019: Tom Brady, Michael Bennett headline All-Bargain Team
By Randy Gurzi
Tight End: Eric Ebron, Indianapolis Colts
Contract: Two years, $13 million with $6 million guaranteed
The Detroit Lions cut Eric Ebron, their former top-10 selection at tight end, just before the 2018 season. After spending some time searching for a new home, he landed with the Indianapolis Colts on a two-year, $13 million deal. It’s not a bad deal for him, but he did prove to be worth more than that quickly.
Ebron had career highs in receptions (66), yards (750) and touchdowns (13) with Indy. He was so good, that he actually scored two more touchdowns in one season with the Colts than he did his entire career with the Lions.
Wide Receiver: Robert Woods, Los Angeles Rams
Contract: Five years, $34 million with $10 million guaranteed
When Robert Woods initially signed this contract with the Los Angeles Rams in 2017, it felt like they had reached. However, after two seasons with his new team, it’s clear that Woods ended up being a bargain.
He has a cap number of just under $7.2 million which is insanely low for a player who just had 86 receptions for 1,219 yards and six touchdowns. In addition to his work as a wideout, Woods is great in the running game as he’s a willing blocker as well. At a time when receivers are making big money, he’s suddenly looking like a steal.
