Wide Receivers

Antonio Brown, Tyrell Williams, Hunter Renfrow, Marcell Ateman, Keelan Doss, Dwayne Harris (6)
Surprises: Keelan Doss

Gruden snagged another potential hometown favorite in Doss. He went to Alameda High School before embarking on his collegiate career at UC Davis.

Doss posted gaudy numbers during his junior and senior terms with the Aggies, logging a combined 233 catches for 2,833 yards and 16 touchdowns in that period. At 6-2, 211 pounds, he’s another big target for Carr on the perimeter.

Along with an NFL-type body frame, Doss runs crisp routes and battles for contested targets using his 31.75-inch arms to snag the football at its high point. His breakout performances would come at the expense of a veteran fighting for a roster spot.

Notable Omissions: Ryan Grant

According to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur, Grant visited the Raiders last year after the Baltimore Ravens voided his contract because of a failed physical, coincidently once their interest in Michael Crabtree surfaced in the news cycle.

"It would have all come full circle last year, when Grant visited the Raiders on March 18 and passed his physical. But he was still smarting from the big contract that he had lost and couldn’t cut the Raiders any slack. He left Alameda and signed with the Colts for one year and $5 million two days later."

In Indianapolis, Grant didn’t move the needle with Andrew Luck healthy under center. He had a shot to secure the No. 2 wide receiver job, but the 28-year old played in a reduced role at the end of the 2018 season. Grant finished with 35 catches for 334 yards and a touchdown.

Last year, Grant could’ve made the roster. This offseason, he faces stiff competition for backups spots. Rookie wideouts Renfrow and Doss could push him out of the picture assuming Harris retains his position as a core special-teamer.

We could see a three-way battle between Grant, Ateman and Nelson. Right now, the edge goes to the player who’s most familiar with the offense.
