Wide Receiver: Sammy Watkins, Kansas City Chiefs

Contract: Three years, $48 million with $21 million guaranteed

Coming out of Clemson in 2014, Sammy Watkins was expected to be the next big thing in the NFL. However, the No. 4 overall pick ended up struggling with health and hit a wall in 2016 after a strong start to his career.

After recording 982 yards as a rookie and 1,047 in his second season, Watkins finished with just 430 yards while missing eight games in 2016. He was traded to the Los Angeles Rams the following season but fell behind Robert Woods as the top target. After recording 593 yards receiving off 39 catches, Watkins signed a $48 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.

His first season with the team saw him again miss time as Watkins played in just 10 games. He was also up and down in those games, finishing with 519 yards and just three touchdowns.

Wide Receiver: Jarvis Landry, Cleveland Browns

Contract: Five years, $75.5 million with $47 million guaranteed

Jarvis Landry led the NFL in receptions in 2017, pulling in 112 for the Miami Dolphins. That number was impressive, but what was overlooked was the fact that he had just 8.8 yards per catch and finished with 987 yards on the season.

Miami was unwilling to extend Landry and found a trade partner in the Cleveland Browns. Once the trade was completed, Landry signed a five-year, $75.5 million contract. He ended up being their top targets but finished with just 976 yards and four touchdowns. Landry isn’t a bad receiver, but he’s primarily a slot receiver and is being paid like a No. 1 wideout.
