Atlanta Falcons: 10-6

Based off the previous two seasons leading up to 2018, the Atlanta Falcons seemed like they would be in for another trip to the playoffs for a third year in a row before finishing with a 7-9 record.

Looking back, there were a few key losses that easily could have gone the other way for the Falcons, but all that matters now is the team focuses on the upcoming 2019 season with the goal of trying to make it three playoff appearances in four years.

Talent-wise, Atlanta is stacked on offense since Matt Ryan has a solid group of receivers to work with led by Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley.

Plus, with Devonta Freeman hopefully returning to full strength after missing most of last year, the Falcons will be in great shape to give the New Orleans Saints a run for their money when it comes to contending for the NFC South title. Of course, that is always a tough task given the rivalry between these two franchises.

Atlanta realizes the difficulty of playing within the NFC South since the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are never easy opponents either, but also the Falcons will be heavily tested right away in September.

As if facing the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles right away wasn’t already difficult enough, the next three games after Week 2 for the Falcons will consist of all opponents from the AFC South.

Unlike last season, here’s to hoping that Atlanta gets off to a better start in 2019 to put the Falcons in better position to bounce back with a playoff appearance after taking a step back last season.
