Chicago Bears: 10-6

Around this time last year, the Chicago Bears were viewed as a team with potential to be a surprise contender in the NFC. This turned out to be exactly the case after the team went on to win the NFC North during Matt Nagy’s first season as head coach.

Between acquiring one of the best defensive players the NFL has to offer in Khalil Mack, along with Mitch Trubisky elevating his game to another level thanks to an improved offense, there were plenty of reasons behind the improvement surrounding the Bears in 2018.

Losing to the Philadelphia Eagles they way they did in the playoffs was a crushing blow, but at least all signs point to Chicago being one of the top contenders in the NFC once again in 2019 thanks to the Bears’ surprise success last year.

In previous years, it was the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings taking all the praise for being the favorites in the NFC North, but the Bears have proven they deserve to be part of the conversation as well.

Outside of their tough division schedule, Chicago will get a taste of action against numerous playoff teams from last season in 2019.

Whether it happens to be two tough road games against the Eagles and the Los Angeles Rams or a late December meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bears will have plenty of opportunities to prove themselves worthy of earning another trip to the playoffs.

If this happens, maybe Chicago will manage to advance past opening weekend, and make a deeper run, although the main focus right now should be making sure they repeat as division champions.
