14. New York Jets land C.J. Mosley
While the New York Jets lost out on Anthony Barr, they did get C.J. Mosley to sign on the dotted line, as the former Baltimore Ravens middle linebacker found himself a new home. A former No. 17 overall pick out of Alabama, Mosley made four Pro Bowls and was a four-time All-Pro Second-Team selection as well.
In his five seasons with the Ravens, he’s racked up 597 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 35 pass defenses, nine interceptions and six forced fumbles. He’s also had just one season in which he didn’t record at least 100 tackles, finishing with 92 in 2016 — although he did miss two games that year.
His addition will truly help the Jets, who struggled mightily on that side of the ball in 2018. According to NFL.com, they were 29th in the league in points surrendered and 25th in total yards. Mosley comes from a team that was second in points and first in yardage, which had a lot to do with his play.
The veteran won’t be alone in trying to fix the defense in the Big Apple either. With the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Jets added another Alabama Crimson Tide star in defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. A monster in the middle of the defense, Williams will join Leonard Williams and Henry Anderson on a defense that looks improved on paper.
Well, that is until Adam Gase gets upset and starts trading all the good players away for mid-round draft picks.
