3. Xavier Woods, Free Safety

We stay in the secondary for the next potential first-time Pro Bowl selection with Xavier Woods. Taken in the sixth round (No. 191 overall) in 2017, Woods was elevated to the starting free safety in his second season and made plenty of strides as a player.

He finished the year with 56 tackles and two interceptions, while also breaking up nine passes. His best game came in the Cowboys Week 10 upset of the Philadelphia Eagles. In that game, he had two pass breakups on third down ‚— one of which was in the end zone in the third quarter that held Philly to just three points in a tight game.

After seeing his improvement from his first season to his second, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Woods take the next step in the coming season. He even finds himself more motivated to do just that after hearing all offseason about the Cowboys issues at safety.

While their pursuit of players such as Earl Thomas wasn’t really meant to be a shot at Woods, he took it as such as he felt disrespected by the pursuit. Rather than being mad about it, Woods seems primed to prove that the team is fine at free safety, saying he believes this will be a big year for him.
