6. Los Angeles Chargers

After a long spell without a playoff berth, the Los Angeles Chargers finally broke through after a successful 2018 campaign. With an impressive record of 12-4, Los Angeles earned a Wild Card spot in just their second season in their new home. They then defeated the Baltimore Ravens by a score of 23-17 to move onto the second round.

However, Philip Rivers and company then ran into a familiar foe in the second round — the New England Patriots. As has often been the case when they meet in the playoffs, this one went in the favor of the Pats who won 41-2 — although it wasn’t even that close.

Los Angeles has since improved their defense adding Notre Dame defensive tackle Jerry Tillery and safety Nasir Adderly in the draft. While that should help improve their team, they’re still part of a division that’s going to be dominated by the Kansas City Chiefs. There’s also a strong chance that both the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos improve making their schedule that much tougher.

All that being put together could push L.A. closer to their 9-7 mark from 2017. It’s a respectable win total but they missed the postseason then and could very well do so again here.
