Cleveland Browns: 3 Early breakout candidates for 2019 season
The Cleveland Browns appear to be a massive breakout contender in 2019, but which players could break out on their own for big seasons?
If there’s one team that you would call the darling of the 2019 NFL offseason, the Cleveland Browns would almost certainly be the favorite. At just about every turn, each move that the Browns have made since they ended their 7-8-1 campaign from a year ago has been praised by the majority of people.
While the Browns have certainly made a litany of big personnel moves this offseason, one of their big changes actually came on teh coaching staff. After Hue Jackson was fired mid-season in 2018 and made way for Gregg Williams as the interim, Williams was not retained so that Cleveland could hang on to Freddie Kitchens, who is now the head coach. Furthermore, the Browns also hired Todd Monken to replace Kitchens as offensive coordinator.
As for the aformentione roster moves, the Browns are not short on them this offseason and they have almost wholly been impressive. They first completed a trade to beef up their defensive end rotation as they landed Olivier Vernon. Cleveland wasn’t done dealing with the New York Giants either as they pulled off the blockbuster trade that landed them wide reciever Odell Beckham Jr.
Additionally, the Browns also signed Kareem Hunt and Sheldon Richardson in free agency while adding potential Day 1 players like Greedy Williams, Sione Takitaki and Mack Wilson via the draft. It’s safe to say that, after coming just shy of a .500 record in the 2018 campaign, big things are expected from the Browns in the upcoming campaign.
There is no doubt that the Cleveland Browns will be circled as bonafide breakout candidates for the 2019 season and potential contenders out of the AFC. Having said that, they’ll need some players to break out as well to make that happen. With that in mind, let’s take an early offseason look at three potential breakout candidates for the Browns.
