Hall of Fame chances for the 20 best NFL quarterbacks entering 2019
By Brad Weiss
Ben Roethlisberger
- Pittsburgh Steelers (2004-present)
Another member of the famed 2004 NFL quarterback draft class, Ben Roethlisberger is another guy who has put together a Pro Football Hall of Fame resume. Since taking over for Tommy Maddox and Charlie Batch as a rookie in 2004, “Big Ben” has become one of the better quarterbacks in the history of the game. He also is showing no signs of slowing down.
In his rookie season, after taking over for Maddox, Roethlisberger went on an incredible run, setting an NFL rookie record by going 13-0 in the regular season. He led the Steelers to a spot in the AFC Championship Game that season. Though they lost to the New England Patriots, the stage was set for the Steelers to win it all the following season.
Roethlisberger won his first of two Super Bowl rings in 2005, with his second coming a few years later after the 2008 season. A six-time Pro Bowler, Roethlisberger owns plenty of Steelers quarterbacking records, including the two biggest ones, as he is the franchise all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns.
During his incredible run in Pittsburgh, Roethlisberger has thrown for over 56,000 yards, while connecting on 363 touchdown passes. Though his leadership has been questioned at times, as well as his behavior off the field, Big Ben is without a doubt a Hall of Fame quarterback. After leading the NFL in passing yards in 2018, he is not going anywhere any time soon.
