Hall of Fame chances for the 20 best NFL quarterbacks entering 2019

Patrick Mahomes
- Kansas City Chiefs (2017-present)
The legend that is Patrick Mahomes was on full display during the 2018 NFL season, where he took the league by storm in his first season as the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs.
A product of Texas Tech University, where he threw for over 5,000 yards in his last season on campus, Mahomes was well worth the first-round selection in 2017, even if he had to basically take a redshirt season as a rookie.
During the 2017 NFL Draft, the Chiefs traded up for Mahomes, selecting him with the No. 10 overall pick. However, the team already had a very capable starting quarterback in Alex Smith, who would go on to lead the team to a third straight AFC West title during the 2017 campaign.
Mahomes started in Week 17 versus the Denver Broncos once Kansas City’s playoff positioning had been settled. He showed enough that the Chiefs were ready for him to take over last season.
In his first season as the starter for Kansas City, Mahomes went off, throwing for over 5,000 yards, while connecting on 50 touchdown passes. The young signal-caller led the Chiefs to their first AFC Championship Game appearance since the early 1990s, while taking home NFL Most Valuable Player honors.
For Mahomes, this could just the start of something special, as he plays the game with incredible passion. He has the arm talent to make throws that other NFL quarterbacks would not even attempt.
The first quarterback the Chiefs have taken in the first round since Todd Blackledge back in 1983, Mahomes is a special talent. He will be headed to Canton if this is just a sample of the rest of his NFL career.
