If the Chicago Bears want to have another successful season, these five players need to step up in the 2019 campaign.

We are at the part of the offseason where not much is happening. The Chicago Bears are having their second session of OTAs later this week, with the last session coming next week. Mandatory minicamp occurs from June 11-13. After a rest, training camp begins and the preseason will be in full swing. The start of the season will then be on the horizon.

The Bears are looking to build on their success of last season. They finally came out of the cellar and actually won the division. Their season ended in heartbreak, however, when kicker Cody Parkey missed a field goal at the end of regulation time.

The team seems like they’re still feeling the pain of that loss and have a sense of unfinished business. With about 98 percent of the players showing up for voluntary workouts, the team is itching to get started again. I think we’ll see the slogan “unfinished business” more than a few times this season.

The front office did its part in making sure success continues into the 2019 season and beyond. After overhauling the wide receivers corps in 2018, they overhauled the running back unit this year.

They shipped Jordan Howard out to the Philadelphia Eagles. In place now are Mike Davis, David Montgomery, Cordarrelle Patterson (for a few plays) and possibly Kerrith Whyte. Add in Tarik Cohen and the position is stronger than it was last season.

There were other maneuvers as well. The Bears added even more wide receivers, and they replaced the departed Bryce Callahan and Adrian Amos. They also solidified the offensive line. Even with this flurry of moves, there are certain players who must step up in order for the Chicago Bears to succeed in 2019.

Here are five of those players.
