Wide Receiver: Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints

There are several wide receivers worthy of this designation. However, of all the candidates, Michael Thomas may be the one most primed to reset the market for pass catchers. I mean, he has been a game-changer since landing with the New Orleans Saints.

Already one of the NFL’s top targets out wide, Thomas has asserted himself as a force to be reckoned with. Week after week, he puts up huge numbers and has the highlight reel bursting at the seams. He made Brandin Cooks expendable, and has given Drew Brees a true No. 1 receiver to go to as often as he wants on Sundays.

Currently set to make only $1.14 million in 2019, Thomas is vastly underpaid. He’s more talented than 99 percent of the league, but is barely bringing in over a million this year. That’s ridiculous when you consider someone like Sammy Watkins will be raking in $11.4 million during the upcoming campaign. Even Kenny Stills is set to collect $7.9 million in 2019.

Don’t fret, though. The Saints have to be planning to make Thomas a wealthy man in the near future. Although they don’t exactly have a ton of cap space to throw around, they’ll find a way to ensure their 2016 second-round pick is the highest-paid wide receiver in the league.
