Savvy veteran: Joe Looney

With Travis Frederick gone, the Cowboys turned to Joe Looney as the starter. He held up well but wasn’t the same caliber as Frederick — which is no slight to Looney but rather a compliment to Frederick.

A former fourth-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2012, Looney spent three seasons there before going to the Tennessee Titans in 2015. He then joined Dallas in 2016. Since then, he’s been the primary backup center as well as one of the top reserve guards.

He enters his final season under contract, after agreeing to a two-year deal ahead of the 2018 season. It wouldn’t be surprising at all to see Looney return though. He’s been a great player for them and is loved by his teammates thanks to his entertaining personality.

The Harvard product: Adam Redmond

Undrafted out of Harvard in 2016, Adam Redmond originally joined the Indianapolis Colts that season. He made just four appearances in his first two seasons in the league before being waived in September of 2017.

He then joined the Buffalo Bills practice squad but never appeared in a game for them. He joined Dallas in September of last year and made an appearance in 10 games. With Frederick out, he was the primary backup center behind Looney. With Frederick returning and Connor McGovern being a possibility at center, Redmond likely won’t make the cut this year.
