3. Baltimore Ravens
2018 first-round pick Lamar Jackson had a successful rookie season after taking over for an injured Joe Flacco. He played so well that Flacco never regained his starting job and was then traded to the Denver Broncos in the offseason. In all, Jackson was 6-1 as a starter, doing plenty of damage with his legs.
Jackson rushed for 695 yards and had five touchdowns, which made up for some of the deficiencies as a passer. It’s not like he was terrible in this area, but he did complete just 58.2 percent of his passes which highlights the need for some refinement in this area.
However, the team could be playing with fire heading into his sophomore campaign. In something that sounds eerily similar to what happened with Robert Griffin III (who is on Baltimore now as a backup), the owner is coming out and saying the mobile quarterback will run less in his second season. Clearly, Steve Bisciotti is taking Jackson’s long-term health into consideration but they need to let him simply be himself.
Not only that, but Baltimore also has changed their offense but apparently never told Jackson. So the leader of the offense showed up at OTAs and was blindsided and even admitted it was ‘getting to him’.
"“Coming in, I didn’t know we would have a totally different offense,” Jackson admitted on the Ravens’ official website — via John Breech of CBS Sports. “When I got here, coach was like, ‘Yea, we have a totally new system. You’re going to have go through this and that.’ It’s been getting to me a little bit."
Pair what’s happening there with the team losing C.J. Mosley, Za’Darius Smith, and Terrell Suggs on defense and this has the potential to be a tough season for the Ravens.
