Cleveland Browns: Breaking down roster by probability of making team
By Cory Kinnan
The Cleveland Browns enter the 2019 season with potential their most talent roster in the history of the franchise; it will be a difficult team to make.
While the Cleveland Browns still have the potential to add another big named player or two (insert Gerald McCoy and Eric Berry), their roster heading into camp is pretty much set. With 90 players currently with the Browns, only 53 can survive to make the final roster and some intense camp battles are set up.
After adding players such as Demetrius Harris, Sheldon Richardson, and Kendall Lamm in free agency, Odell Beckham Jr. and Olivier Vernon in a blockbuster trade, and drafting talents such as Greedy Williams and Sione Takitaki, the Browns will be a tough team to make.
With key contributors such as Joe Schobert, Damarious Randall, Rashard Higgins, and J.C. Tretter all entering contract years, the Browns will have to make some difficult roster decisions in order to attempt to retain their services. This may put some veterans with expendable contracts on the hot seat as well.
Heading deeper into the offseason, the roster has been broken down into four categories. Those categories are listed below.
Lock: These players are all but guaranteed to be on the roster on opening day barring something unforeseen.
Probable: There is a great probability they will be on the final 53-man roster, but a chance remains they could end up elsewhere outside of Cleveland.
On the Bubble: These players are fighting for a roster spot and will have to endure a long summer to prove they belong on the team.
Doubtful: The chances are slim these players land on the final 53-man roster, but there is still a chance for them to make a splash during training camp.
Here is a breakdown of the Browns current roster by their probability of making the final 53-man roster in Cleveland.
