Current Dallas head coach Jason Garrett had a vision for his team when he took over full-time in 2011 — build a massive offensive line that can wear opponents down. A backup quarterback in Big D from 1993-99, Garrett was part of a team that dominated up front. And while they had many big names during that span, none were as good as guard Larry Allen.

Coming out of a little known school by the name of Sonoma State, Allen was taken 46th overall in 1994. He immediately showed he was ready for the big time though as Allen started 10 games as a rookie at right tackle. The then moved to guard in 1995, where he helped Dallas win a Super Bowl and also made his first of 11 appearances in the Pro Bowl.

He continued to show off his versatility as Allen moved to left tackle in 1998 and played extremely well there. He was moved back to guard in 1999 and played there through the rest of his time in Dallas, which lasted until 2005.

Eventually, Allen headed to the San Francisco 49ers and played two years there. Still regarded as one of the best guards to ever play the game, Allen is a member of the Cowboys Ring of Honor and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
