4. Arizona Cardinals

Of the five potential trade partners for the Washington Redskins that we’re looking at, the Arizona Cardinals are the farthest from contending for a playoff spot or more. Making a trade and an investment of this nature typically lends itself to a team that is on the cusp of big-time success. With that said, the Cardinals are in a unique position after they took Kyler Murray with the first pick in the 2019 draft.

With Kliff Kingsbury taking over as head coach, the Cardinals offense is going to flow through the new quarterback. And though Murray is mobile, keeping him well-protected would be a wise move for Arizona. D.J. Humphries and Marcus Gilbert aren’t bad, but the former is an injury concern and Trent Williams is superior to both of them. If Arizona wants to make a splash, trading for Williams would accomplish that.

3. New York Jets

Despite the fact that the New York Jets spent big in many aspects of free agency and landed big-time talent in the draft, Le’Veon Bell, C.J. Mosley and Quinnen Williams don’t play on the offensive line. Considering that the O-line was one of the glaring issues in front of Sam Darnold during the quarterback’s rookie campaign, they still need to do more than just the one trade they already made that landed them Kelechi Osemele.

As of right now, it would be Kelvin Beachum and Brandon Shell likely starting at left and right tackle, respectively, for the Jets to start the 2019 season. Adding Trent Williams to the mix would be an immediate and substantial upgrade over either of those players. Moreover, after investing in Darnold and Bell, fortifying the line with a player like Williams would allow those new faces of the offense to thrive.
