7 Greatest Dallas Cowboys players of the 21st century

3. Tony Romo – QB
If a casual NFL fan were asked to name the Cowboys all-time leading passer, they would probably go with either Troy Aikman or Roger Staubach. However, either of these choices would be incorrect. That record currently belongs to Mr. Antonio Ramiro Romo. Straight out of Eastern Illinois University, Tony Romo pretty much came out of nowhere and evolved into one of the best quarterbacks to ever play for Dallas.
Signed as an undrafted free agent in 2003, he spent his first three years on the Cowboys’ bench as a backup. But then midway through the 2006 season, Romo was inserted as Dallas’ new starting quarterback after Drew Bledsoe struggled to produce at a satisfying level.
From that point on, Romo remained the Cowboys’ starter until he retired after 2016. During his tenure with Dallas, the gunslinging quarterback set numerous team records.
Romo currently holds the Cowboys’ single-season records for passing yards, passing touchdowns. and completion percentage. He is also Dallas’ all-time leader in career passing yards, career passing touchdowns, and career quarterback rating.
The Cowboys might have only won two playoff games during Romo’s time under center. But with him in the game, he at least gave Dallas fans something to look forward to each week.
