1. Jason Witten – TE

Given how his broadcasting skills are nothing to brag about, Jason Witten can at least sleep at night knowing he is the greatest tight end to ever play for the Dallas Cowboys.

Dallas selected Witten in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft out of Tennessee and it didn’t take long for him to emerge as an important piece of the team’s offense. In just his second season with the Cowboys, he finished with 87 catches for 980 yards and six touchdowns.

As was the case for many of Dallas’ players during the 21st century, Witten’s most productive year came in 2007. That season, he ended up hauling in 96 passes for 1,145 yards and seven touchdowns. Witten’s performance in 2007 resulted in his first of two First-Team All-Pro selections.

In addition to his two All-Pro selections, the tight end also earned 11 invitations to the Pro Bowl. Witten’s 11 Pro Bowls are tied for the most in team history with former Cowboys defensive lineman Bob Lilly. Currently, he is Dallas’ all-time leader in career receptions and career receiving yards. Witten’s return to the field this year should only further increase these marks.

Only nine tight ends have ever been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But whenever he decides to hang it up for good, bet on Witten getting a gold jacket in Canton one day.
