Green Bay Packers: Ranking Aaron Rodgers’ 5 best career games
By Joe Kipp
4. Week 6, 2012 at Texans
24-of-37, 338 passing yards, six touchdowns (career-high), 133.8 passer rating
In a Packers’ 42-24 win over the Texans in Week 6 of 2012, Rodgers threw for a career-high six touchdowns, which also tied the franchise record for a single game. Receiver Jordy Nelson was Rodgers’ go-to guy that day, catching nine passes for 121 yards and three touchdowns. The Texans had been previously undefeated, falling to 5-1 after their loss to the Packers.
Rodgers started off fast in this one, tossing two touchdowns on Green Bay’s first two drives. With a rushing attack that logged only 99 rush yards on 31 carries, good for 3.2 yards per attempt (Rodgers himself had two carries for 17 yards), the Packers had to rely on the passing game to move the ball. Clearly, No. 12 was up to the challenge.
Rodgers’ best throw of the game was a 42-yard touchdown strike to Jordy down the right sideline early in the first quarter. The score gave the Packers an early 7-0 lead, and Green Bay didn’t look back. The Packers improved to 3-3 after the win, in a performance that was easily one of Rodgers’ best of the 2012 season.
