The Best out West: Laviska Shenault, Colorado

Colorado wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. had a dominant showing this past season for the Buffaloes. At 6-2 and 225 pounds, Shenault boasts a fantastic physical profile that resembles everything that evaluators hoped Cordarrelle Patterson could become coming out of the University of Tennessee.

Despite his physical style, there is explosiveness to Shenault’s game that takes viewers off guard. Equally as explosive in and out of breaks as he is as a runner, Shenault is an absolute nightmare to corral in the open field.

The only potential setback for Shenault as a prospect is his injury history, which held him out of several games this past season. I don’t want to sit here and say there are no holes in Shenault’s game on the field, but the young man is pretty darn good. Truthfully, Shenault is just tapping into his long term potential. Short, intermediate, vertical, gadget player, wildcat quarterback — the kid can do it all.

Despite the early review of Jerry Jeudy as the unquestioned No. 1 receiver prospect for next years class, Shenault could stake the largest claim for threatening that top overall position. Another year paired with senior quarterback Steven Montez is going to go along way for Shenault, with the possibility of breaking several receiving records imminent with the absence of injuries.
