The Saquon Show
Despite what season the Giants may have as a whole, Barkley is in position to have a sensational second year. He has a better O-line compared to last years and is now the clear focal point of Pat Shurmur’s offense, he is bound to get even more touches this year. Teams will surely crowd the box against him, but he is used to that already.
He faced a defense with eight or more men in the box on 22 percent of his snaps last season. That is an insane number and, even with that, he still performed at a high level. With the load he is projected to carry for the Giants offense, could we see him break the single-season scrimmage yard record? He was about 500 yards away last year, so obtaining the record seems feasible.
The New York Giants, more than likely, won’t be a playoff team in 2019 and they will likely end the season with a lesser record than what they produced in 2018. There is a silver lining for them and that is Saquon Barkley. Barkley has been very clear about his desire to be an improved player in his second season. He even went as far as to say that he is the best back in the league.
With the offensive gameplan revolving around him for the 2019 season, he has a chance to back up his statement. He seems to be hungrier and more determined coming into this season, ready to prove that his rookie year wasn’t a fluke. The Saquon Show will be in full effect in the 2019 season and he is prepared to dazzle in his sophomore campaign.
