2. Promoting Freddie Kitchens to head coach

It really looked like the Browns might blow their coaching search again this offseason as Mike McCarthy and other assistants around the league were rumored to be strong candidates for the team’s head coaching gig. However, the Browns did a thorough vet and search and landed on promoting Freddie Kitchens to head coach in Cleveland.

When Haley and Jackson were fired halfway through the 2018 season and Kitchens took control of the offense, it was a night and day difference on the field. While nobody in their right mind would have saw the jump from running backs coach to head coach in the matter of a year, it was the absolute right hire by Dorsey and the Browns.

Kitchens not only has built a great rapport with the long-awaited franchise quarterback in Mayfield, but he also has the right demeanor to lead the now star-studded locker room of the Browns. It was evident from the moment he was hired as the head coach in Cleveland that he had the love and support from the team and the community.

While he is a first-year head coach, Kitchens will have the highest expectations of any rookie sheriff in the league. However, every interaction with the new head coach would seem to indicate he can handle the pressure and is the right man to lead this franchise into greatness.
