2. New York Jets

The New York Jets, coming into the offseason, had an absolute boatload of cash to spend — and, boy, did they spend it

Last year, the Jets drafted Sam Darnold out of USC. This year in free agency, they gave Darnold some weapons. The Jets gave Darnold two solid receivers in Josh Bellamy and Jamison Crowder. Gang Green also snagged C.J. Mosley who is arguably one of the best linebackers in the NFL.

The one signing that maybe wasn’t the best was Le’Veon Bell. Bell inked a $52.5 million contract with the Jets, but the value might not be there, mainly due to the fact he is a running back. Nonetheless, the Jets did a good job in free agency in terms of adding talent.

After their shopping spree in free agency, the Jets hit it big in the draft, as well. The Jets had the third pick in the 2019 draft and, when their pick came up, everybody was on the board minus Nick Bosa and Kyler Murray.

New York ultimately selected Quinnen Williams. Williams was the best defensive tackle in the country and arguably the best interior defensive line prospect since Aaron Donald. Outside of their first-round pick, the Jets also made two good selections in linebacker Blake Cashman and offensive tackle Chuma Edoga.

Darnold had a rough beginning to his rookie year, but in the second half of the year, he started coming together and picking up his game. With some new weapons on the offensive side and an improved defense, the Jets may make a run into the postseason.
