9. Seattle Seahawks (12)
The injury bug seems to have struck yet again as the Seattle Seahawks parted ways with Doug Baldwin this offseason. His release was preceded by reports of growing concern over injuries suffered throughout his career. This comes just one year after they lost both Cliff Avril and Kam Chancellor to career ending injuries.
Seattle overcame those losses and they feel as though they can overcome this one as well. What they may not be able to overcome is their continual insistence on ignoring the offensive line. Once again, with that being their biggest weakness, the ‘Hawks went elsewhere in the draft as they took defensive lineman L.J. Collier with their first-round pick.
That selection was a head-scratcher not only due to them ignoring the offensive line but because Collier didn’t feel like a day one pick — much like Rashaad Penny didn’t last year. Outside of Collier, their other prized pick was D.K. Metcalf, the workout warrior who has been less than impressive in his route running.
Even with these concerns, the Seahawks remain a team that can make some noise. That’s because they have their franchise quarterback in Russell Wilson, who just landed a huge extension in the offseason. As long as he’s there, they have a shot.
