1. QB Andrew Luck

Yes, I just picked the Indianapolis Colts’ two biggest stars as their two biggest X-factors. At the end of the day, Andrew Luck is going to make or break this team. He has played at borderline MVP levels throughout his career, and he’s also played like a far below average quarterback during his career.

Players that win MVPs go to Super Bowls, and players that are below average don’t. In the middle of his prime, it’s time for Luck to elevate himself to that next level and join the elite tier.

One major area that Luck needs to work on is taking care of the football. His season-low mark for interceptions is nine — however, in that same season, he had six fumbles. For his career, he has 44 fumbles and 83 interceptions to his name. For all of his downfield passing and running abilities, they don’t do a lot of good when you turn the ball over. His offensive line, running backs and wide receivers are the best of his career in 2019, and he has to take advantage of it.

Some thought Luck might be done performing at an elite level after he had to take the entire 2017-18 season to recover from his shoulder injury. He showed last year with over 4,500 passing yards that he still has it. The Colts need him to bring that same level of production this year to move further in the playoffs. If he can do that, they have the talent to threaten for a trip to the Super Bowl.
