Buffalo Bills: Who will be leading wide receiver in 2019 season?
By Luke Parrish
The Buffalo Bills have a young core in place on offense. Who will be the most reliable target for Josh Allen?
Josh Allen has all the tools to be a deadly quarterback in the NFL. His strong arm and escapability from the pocket make him a dynamic threat under center. Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills had a strong 2019 draft and bolstered almost every aspect of the roster, most notably on defense as they added Ed Oliver, who will make an immediate impact up front.
Offensively, the Bills drafted help at nearly every level. Cody Ford is expected to start along the offensive line given his versatility. Dawson Knox is the heir to Charles Clay’s throne at tight end. Yet with all the new pieces, there are still questions regarding the wide receiver position.
Zay Jones was the only wide receiver on the team to haul in at least 30 passes in the 2018 season. He caught 56 balls for 652 yards, by far the most on the team. Robert Foster was the next wide receiver on the list with 27 catches for 541 yards. His 20 yards per reception made him a constant big-play threat, but they needed more options.
The Bills made sure to address the need at receiver in free agency by signing Cole Beasley, Andre Roberts and John Brown heading into the 2019 campaign. The unit had a complete makeover this spring.
With a revamped corps at wide receiver, Allen can take a huge step forward in his career. For the sake of argument, running backs and tight ends will be left alone in this preview. Here are the top candidates to lead the Bills in receiving for the 2019 season.
