The Minnesota Vikings were tabbed as one of the teams most likely to draft a quarterback in 2020. Who might they consider if that is the case?

Eric Edholm of Yahoo! Sports released a list of NFL teams most likely to select a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Minnesota Vikings cracked the list at a “medium” likelihood. Now, every team considers drafting quarterbacks at some point in the draft for one reason or another.

The Vikings passed up on the 2019 quarterbacks in the draft. However, they did manage to sign former Washington Huskies signal caller Jake Browning as an undrafted free agent. With Kirk Cousins only signed through the 2020 season, drafting a potential replacement makes sense next spring.

Cousins was signed by the Vikings to be the savior at quarterback. After one season, things seem to already be falling apart. The Vikings finished their 2018 season with an 8-7-1 record, quite the drop from 2017.

A lot of blame has been placed on Cousins but should be spread across the roster as a whole. Sure, Cousins struggled in important moments, but he didn’t have much help. The offensive line is improved in 2019 which will hopefully clean things up for Cousins.

It remains to be seen if Cousins will sign an extension in Minnesota. His contract is luxurious but the Vikings have found ways to make it work. Moving the quarterback before his contract expires would be a tough task. Cutting him would result in a huge cap penalty and finding a trade partner will be almost impossible.

The most likely move would be to let Cousins play out his deal through 2020 and develop a replacement in the meantime. Here are the potential replacements in the 2020 NFL Draft.
