The Green Bay Packers are an extremely popular team, but these five players are currently flying under the radar entering the 2019 season.

Every NFL team has players who fly under the radar. The overall popularity of the Green Bay Packers makes it difficult for players to go unnoticed, though. Nonetheless, we came up with five players currently on Green Bay’s roster who could surprise in a big way in 2019.

Following a disappointing 2018 campaign, the Packers have a plethora of players who need to step up this coming season. Green Bay has multiple players entering the final year of their respective contract, which adds another whole aspect to this season. Players like Blake Martinez, Dean Lowry, Mike Daniels and others will look to prove why they should be re-signed after 2019.

The Packers also have plenty of young players in Year 2 or Year 3 of their respective careers who could provide a major boost from last year. For instance, take second-year cornerback Josh Jackson, who had a very shaky rookie campaign in 2018. A second-year jump from Jackson could mean the difference between a good secondary or a great secondary for the Packers’ defense.

It’s not uncommon for players to take a big leap in their second or third year as a pro, either. Many times, players are still adjusting to the mental aspect of the game. Once they’re able to process everything at NFL speed, things begin slowing down. This is the case for many of Green Bay’s younger players.

The Seattle Seahawks are an example of a team who relies on big jumps from younger players. The Packers are similar to Seattle in that they rely on homegrown, drafted players to be key contributors. That’s why we’ve identified five players who could be a huge surprise for Green Bay in 2019.
