Washington State safety Jalen Thompson chose to return to school for his senior year instead of declaring for the 2019 NFL Draft. However, he has now been declared ineligible to play college football in 2019 due to purchasing over-the-counter supplements that are banned by the NCAA. He will now enter the Supplemental Draft in hopes of making the leap to the NFL.
Thompson saw a ton of playing time in his career with the Cougars and no missed time with injuries, and as a result has the NFL buzzing about the potential of drafting him not only in 2020, but now even earlier. In a draft that saw a handful of talented safeties drafted, Thompson looks to add himself to that list.
Given the urgency of the situation, a player profile on Thompson, set to be potentially drafted later this month. Thompson would have been drafted in the top half of the draft if he would have come out this year, but in a deep safety class, he chose to potentially rise to the top of the next year’s class.
