1. Kelvin Beachum, Left Tackle

Last season, the Jets as a whole were pretty bad on the offensive line. None of the players stood out in a good way and that made it rough on the team since they were starting a rookie quarterback in Sam Darnold. Even with their massive struggles, the team did little to fix the problem.

They did make a trade for Kelechi Osemele from the Oakland Raiders, but he hasn’t been the same player lately. Another addition was Chuma Edoga, who knows Darnold very well.

The two were teammates at USC and the signal caller thinks New York got themselves a great addition in the third round. Darnold spoke about his friend, saying he believes his future is bright in the NFL.

"“I’m just really excited for him, just as a friend, for him to be able to get drafted where he was drafted and for us to take a chance on him, I think it’s going to pay off for this organization in the future,” Darnold said via Randy Lange of NewYorkJets.com. “I see him really excelling in the NFL.”"

It may seem like a stretch to consider a day two pick as a potential starter at left tackle, but that could happen if Beachum doesn’t rebound from last year.

Should he continue to struggle, and if Edoga’s play is at least close to the same level, there will be a temptation to move on from the veteran and save $8 million (according to OverTheCap.com).
