Buffalo Bills: Preseason award predictions for 2019
By Luke Parrish
Newcomer of the Year: John Brown, WR
The Bills really made a push to compete in the 2019 offseason. Their draft and free agent acquisitions have set them up to do just that. All of the new talent made this a tough choice as for who would be the best newcomer. Rookies and veterans alike who are joining the Bills in 2019 will make an immediate impact. Several signings and draft picks are crucial to the team’s success.
None may be bigger than the signing of wide receiver John Brown, though. Brown is known for his elite speed down the field. Josh Allen is known for his ridiculously strong arm. This is a pairing that football fans dream about. Brown can make quite the impact in the vertical passing game.
Of course, Buffalo brought in a ton of help for the passing offense. That said, Brown can create the most hype for fans around the league. His name will continue to pop up in the conversation of home run threats. At the very least, Brown will make the Bills offense a fun one. The things that he can do on the field could be enough to give the team a bit of an identity and culture on that side of the ball.
Only time will tell how Brown’s chemistry forms with Allen. His catch rates haven’t been a thing of beauty in his career, sitting at just 50.2 percent. His big-play potential is astronomical, but his consistency is far from it. Still, I think Brown will be the most vital newcomer for the 2019 Buffalo Bills.
