After this year’s draft, the Chicago Bears signed a number of undrafted rookies. Many will end up getting cut, but a few might make the team and even get some playing time.

The Chicago Bears start 2019 training camp in less than a month. We finally get our first opportunity to see how the changes in the roster during the offseason fit. We also get to see the return of our favorite players and see how much they improved (or regressed) over the offseason.

Another thing we get to see is how a number of undrafted rookies perform knowing they are a longshot to have a career in the NFL. They failed to make a big enough impression on any of the 32 teams in the league but got another shot to make their NFL dreams come true.

Everyone loves an underdog so some of these rookies will become fan favorites. Chicago is a blue-collar town and Bears fans appreciate it when a player grinds his way onto the team.

There have been a number of undrafted rookies who not only made the team but also made an impact on the field. For example, Christian Jones was an undrafted rookie in 2014 who played four seasons with Chicago. He recorded 241 tackles.

Cornerback Bryce Callahan and wide receiver Cameron Meredith were undrafted rookies in 2015. Callahan became a big part of the cornerback unit until he left this offseason through free agency. Meredith was one of the Bears’ top receivers before an injury sidelined him and the Bears let him go.

Current players Ryan Nall, Abdullah Anderson, and Kevin Toliver II are more examples undrafted rookies who made their way onto the team. Toliver got a chance to play due to injuries and looked pretty good

Sometimes on a team that is pretty set, the battle to make the team is what keeps the fans’ attention. The starters don’t get to play much so the fans turn to battles for backup jobs or watching these rookies play their hearts out to make the team.

The Bears signed 22 undrafted rookies. With so few roster spot openings, their odds of making the team are low. However, there are a few who have a chance of making the team and even getting some playing time. Here are some of them.
