The franchise first took the field in 2002. And in 17 seasons in the NFL, the Houston Texans own a combined 121-151 win-loss record in the regular season. But while the overall numbers shows that the franchise is 30 games under .500 in its history, it really has been a much different story the past eight years.

Dating back to 2011, the organization has compiled a combined 66-62 win-loss record, won the AFC South five times and posted only two losing campaigns over that span. In the team’s first nine seasons, there was a disappointing 55-89 and only one winning year (9-7 in 2009). These numbers are far from a shock considering the overall history of expansion franchises in the league.

But this is about what have you done for someone lately. And while the club has made five playoff appearances since 2011 and actually won three postseason games, the Texans have been stuck in neutral when it comes to getting to the ‘Big Game.” They remain one of four current NFL franchises — along with the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars — that has not made a Super Bowl appearance.

Of course, that’s difficult to do when you are the only club of the 32 in the league that has yet to reach a conference championship game. So is this the year the Texans finally make a deeper run in the postseason…if they get there at all?
