The Dallas Cowboys added some talent to the interior of their defensive line. Here we examine their defensive tackle depth chart heading into 2019.

Ever since Rod Marinelli came to the Dallas Cowboys, they’ve gotten solid production out of their defensive tackles. They’ve done this even without having any big-name stars manning the middle of the line.

The biggest “star” was David Irving, who really never met his potential. A former undrafted signing of the Kansas City Chiefs, Irving developed into a presence in the middle of the defensive line but never could keep his nose clean.

After spending the better part of 2018 suspended — which was a year after missing four games in 2017 for the same reason — Irving gave up football to smoke weed.

Besides Irving, Marinelli has had success while rotating players such as Nock Hayden, Jack Crawford, and Jarius Wynn. He was also able to turn Jason Hatcher into a force as the veteran had 11 sacks in 2013 while Marinelli served as the defensive line coach.

Heading into 2019, Marinelli is coming off one of his best performances as a coach. He was helped out by defensive back coach Kris Richard but the coordinator continued to work closely with the front line.

That group played beyond their potential and finished the year as the fifth-best team in the league at stopping the run. They struggled in that regard in the playoffs, which has led to them adding some talent in this offseason as they look to build upon that success.

Here, we look at the players who will be lining up in the middle of the defensive line this year for the Cowboys.
