Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2019: 5-Round, 10-team projection, version 1.0
Round 2
There is not a bigger freak of an athlete on the offensive side of the ball than Julio Jones. Jones led the league with 1,677 yards and had 325.9 points as the WR4. There is not a better guarantee at this position and Jones will have another great season in 2019.
Last season, Joe Mixon was chosen by a lot of fantasy football owners in hopes of seeing former Oklahoma running back breakout. He scored 243.4 points on his way to be the RB10. With a new head coach on hand coming from the Los Angeles Rams, Mixon is sure to have an even better year.
There is serious optimism from fans that James Conner could easily be chosen in the first round. That makes plenty of sense considering what he was able to do last season in his first year as the main back of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 13 games, the stud scored 280 fantasy points. If he plays a full season, he could be reaching elite RB1 numbers like Barkley and Elliott.
Having Drew Brees as your quarterback has never been a bad thing, especially when you have the talent of someone like Michael Thomas. Thomas led the NFL in receptions last season and is worth the selection. The top five receivers this year are interchangeable, with each having the ability to explode.
JuJu Smith-Schuster had his coming out party last season as the second option for Ben Roesthlisberger. With Antonio Brown gone, Smith-Schuster now takes the top spot which can only mean wonders considering he was the WR8 last year with 296.9 points. JuJu in the mid-second round could prove to be a steal.
This will be the first season that Odell Beckham Jr. is not picked as a top-five receiver. While he has that talent and maybe the most in the entire league, he falls out of the top five strictly due to the situations of the other five. He is now set as Baker Mayfield’s top option, which is far better than being Eli Manning’s. He could easily rank as the No. 1 this year if he acclimates to a new offense quickly.
The tight end position exploded in fantasy last season as there are incredibly elite options. That is led by Travis Kelce, who became the favorite of MVP Patrick Mahomes and will be doing the same as an ultimate mismatch. He is worth the second-round selection.
If Dalvin Cook can avoid injury, he can be an RB1. That is big if, as he has experienced that in two seasons straight. In such a talented offense, Cook could be the real deal.
Mike Evans is a machine and he will more than likely have a full season with quarterback Jameis Winston in 2019. In the Bruce Arians’ offense, Evans could have his best year yet which is scary to think considering how incredible he has been already.
From 2014-17, the WR1 in fantasy football was Antonio Brown. Last season, he fell to the WR5, though he led the league with 15 touchdowns. This year is now the biggest toss-up for AB as he switches teams and quarterbacks heading to the Raiders. It seems he and Derek Carr have really hit it off, so it is now a matter of time to see how AB does.
