Baltimore Ravens: 3 Vital statistics for 2019 season

A year ago, the Baltimore Ravens won their first division title since 2012. There are lots of changes to the roster. What do the numbers tell us about 2019?

It was a franchise that appeared to be headed in a downward direction in terms of on the field results. During the first five seasons of the John Harbaugh era with the Baltimore Ravens (2008-12), the they were a playoff team each year.

With quarterback Joe Flacco at the helm combined with an array of stellar defensive talent, the club won at least one postseason game each year over that stretch. There would be three appearances in the AFC title game, the last in 2012 which eventually resulted in a Super Bowl XLVII championship.

But the next five seasons would prove to be quite different. The Ravens did get back to the playoffs as a wild card team in 2014 at once again got at least one victory, But it was Harbaugh and company’s only trip to the postseason over that stretch.

After nine games in 2018, things didn’t look much better as Baltimore owned a 4-5 record and was riding a three-game losing streak. Flacco was hurting and the team went with rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson.

A revamped offense and the team’s usually-steady defense spearheaded by 6-1 finish. And the club not only passed the Pittsburgh Steelers in the standings, the Ravens won the AFC North for the 1st time since 2012. Oddly enough, the team was one and out in the playoffs for the first time under Harbaugh via a home loss to the Chargers in the wild card round.

But it’s a new year and there have been plenty of changes to the roster and some tweaking of the coaching staff. So what are the key numbers when it comes to these Ravens?
