Baltimore Ravens: Predicting individual awards in 2019
By Luke Parrish
The Baltimore Ravens have a completely revitalized roster heading into the 2019 NFL season but which players will set themselves apart?
The Baltimore Ravens surprised the league in the 2018 season. After changing quarterbacks midway through the year, the Ravens managed to win the AFC North and reach the playoffs. The 2019 Ravens look much different but the expectations are still quite high from the Baltimore faithful.
Baltimore made plenty of changes across the roster. Joe Flacco is no longer around, leaving no debate as to who will start at quarterback. Mark Ingram signed as a free agent to lead the rushing attack. Marquise Brown was drafted in the first round, providing Lamar Jackson with a speed threat on the outside.
On defense, the Ravens lost C.J. Mosley, Za’Darius Smith and Eric Weddle while adding Shane Ray, Pernell McPhee and Earl Thomas. These moves appear to be a small step back on the defensive side of the ball.
Mosley led the team in tackles in each of the last two seasons. Replacing him will not be an easy task, but there are suitors in place. Patrick Onwuasor projects to have a larger role in the defense next season as he takes over Mosley’s role.
With the 2019 NFL season on the horizon, our questions will soon be answered. The roster will take shape as the team sees fit. But with high organizational expectations come similar individual goals. The players on the roster have to mesh and turn dreams into reality. Every NFL team has its stars and leaders. League awards reflect the individual players with superstar status. Team awards recognize the most important pieces of each franchise in a given season.
These are the 2019 Baltimore Ravens individual award predictions.
