Fantasy Football 2019: Top sleeper at each position
Biggest WR Sleeper: Dante Pettis, San Francisco 49ers
All signs point to Dante Pettis being the next star wide receiver of the San Francisco 49ers. He has the size, speed and flat-out ability to become a stud in the NFL. To this point of the 2019 offseason, it sounds like Pettis is living up to that potential as the 49ers continue to rave about the young receiver.
Coming into his second NFL season, Pettis is 100 percent healthy and set to work primarily out of the slot in Kyle Shanahan’s offense. Doing so with his skill-set, he can quickly become Jimmy Garoppolo’s favorite receiver with double coverage expected for tight end George Kittle.
The signs Pettis showed at the end of the 2018 season — with Nick Mullens at the helm, it should be noted — are promising for what he’s developing into as a fantasy football receiver. The Washington product put up fantasy outings of 17.7, 29.7, 13.9 and 13.3 through Weeks 12-15, respectively, before getting hurt in Week 16.
Those are easily WR2 numbers that can be expected with Garoppolo taking back control of the offense from Mullens. Pettis is currently going with an average draft position in the ninth round according to Fantasy Pros, which would be an absolute steal and marks him as a true sleeper in drafts this season.
Considering that wide receiver is so deep, waiting to take a guy like Pettis can allow you to load up at other positions and, ultimately, get closer to winning your league.
