Seattle Seahawks: 3 Vital statistics for 2019 season
For the second time, the Seattle Seahawks overcame a 0-2 start to reach the playoffs. But that was last season. What do the numbers say about 2019?
They were a team apparently in rebuilding mode. A year ago, the Seattle Seahawks were coming off a 9-7 campaign in 2017 and the club missed the playoffs after five consecutive postseason appearances. And two weeks into 2018, it appeared that Pete Carroll’s club could be in for another disappointing year.
Losses at Denver and at Chicago put the club from the Pacific Northwest in an early hole. And nine games into the season, the ‘Hawks owned a 4-5 mark and were four games behind the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West. But led by prolific signal-caller Russell Wilson and the NFL’s top ground attack, the club regrouped and won six of their final contests.
It resulted in a 10-6 finish and a sixth trip to the playoffs in seven seasons. But for the first time during the Carroll and Wilson Era dating back to 2012, the Seahawks were one-and-out come the postseason courtesy of a tough 24-22 road loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round.
Now, the Seahawks not only look to get back in the Super Bowl tournament, the team seeks its first division title since 2016. It was another offseason of familiar departures such as safety Earl Thomas, defensive end Frank Clark and wide receiver Doug Baldwin. But general manager John Schneider did some wheeling and dealing in April and the team wound up adding 11 players via the draft.
So what are the key facts and figures in regards to this team this upcoming season?
