Make no mistake. Despite the fact that Sean McVay’s club has won the NFC West the past two seasons, the defense of the Los Angeles Rams has been far from fearsome. This despite the presence of Aaron Donald, the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in both 2017 and 2018.

Case in point is that the Seattle Seahawks scored exactly 31 points against the division champions this past season, only to fall short in both contests. In Week 5 at CenturyField, Pete Carroll’s club rolled up 190 yards on the ground vs. Wade Phillips’ defensive unit only two fall short, 33-31.

Five weeks later at the Los Angeles Coliseum (Week 10), Seattle’s ground attack gashed the Rams for 273 yards on the ground and rolled up 414 total yards. But the Seahawks still came up on the losing end of a 36-31 score. So despite putting a combined 62 points on the board against the best team in the division in 2018, the Seahawks came up short in both contests.

So can a revamped Seattle defense find a way to slow down McVay’s club? All told, the team has dropped three straight in this divisional rivalry and allowed a combined 111 points in those setbacks.
