Since the 2000 NFL season, who are the seven greatest players to put on the red and gold for the San Francisco 49ers?

Historically, there are few teams in the NFL that have experienced more success during their existence than the San Francisco 49ers. Since 1980, the 49ers’ five Super Bowl are the second-most of any franchise in the league.

However, San Francisco hasn’t captured a Vince Lombardi trophy since the 1994 season. And during the 21st century, the 49ers have found themselves at the bottom of the NFL more often than they would like.

Since 2000, San Francisco has had eight different head coaches and finished outside of the playoffs 14 times. The glory days of the 49ers certainly feel like distant memories these days.

Despite the majority of their seasons turning out poorly during the 21st century, San Francisco has still been able to experience some success during the years in which they actually qualified for the postseason.

The 49ers have been to the playoffs five times since 2000 and they managed to play in three NFC Championships and one Super Bowl. So at least the recent past hasn’t been entirely bad for San Francisco.

Although the 49ers haven’t been among the NFL’s best teams during the majority of the 21st century, the franchise has still been able to produce some of the league’s most talented players. Some of them may even end up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day.

So of all the players to suit up for San Francisco since the 2000 season, which seven deserve to be recognized as the greatest to step on the field in their uniform?
