The Dallas Cowboys begin their 2019 training camp in Oxnard, California on July 27. These five players have the most to prove once that camp opens up.
As a whole, the Dallas Cowboys have a lot to prove as they prepare for the 2019 NFL Season. Coming off their second NFC East title in the past three seasons, they’re proving to be a team that can get enough wins in the regular season to compete. The problem is, they’re now 1-2 in the postseason which brings up questions regarding their ability to get it done when it matters most.
America’s Team defeated the Seattle Seahawks during the 2018 postseason, but then lost in the Divisional Round to the Los Angeles Rams. That defeat kept them out of the NFC Championship Game once again, making it 23 seasons since they last made the NFC Championships.
For that reason, head coach Jason Garrett enters this season without any long-term security. Entering his eighth full season as the coach, Garrett is on the final year of his contract and the front office didn’t show any intentions of wanting to give him a new deal.
Perhaps they believe him coaching for his job will have positive results. So far, fans have to be happy with what Garrett has done this offseason, or at least one thing he did — moved on from offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. Doing so showed that Garrett at least understands that their offense was a huge problem last year. Hiring Kellen Moore as a replacement was a bit shocking, but anyone other than Linehan feels like a better fit for this roster.
While Garrett surely has the most to prove overall, there are also several players with a lot on the line in 2019. Here are the top 5 Cowboys who have a lot to prove as training camp gets ready to begin.
