In the history of the NFL, there have been some incredible duos for each franchise, and we take a look at the top-30 greatest duos in NFL history.

The NFL, originally known as the American Professional Football Association (APFA), started all the way back in 1920. Since then, there have been plenty of exciting duos in league history.

From wide receiver duos, to head coaches and quarterbacks, there were so many ways we could have gone in terms of ranking the best tandems in the history of the NFL.

With that said, here are the 30 greatest duos in NFL history.

30. Keenan McCardell and Jimmy Smith, Jacksonville Jaguars

During their time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the wide receiver tandem of Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell put up some incredible numbers. Nicknamed “Thunder and Lightning,” McCardell and Smith were the elite wide receiver duo of their day, putting the Jaguars franchise on the map.

McCardell, better known as “Thunder”, played for the Jaguars from 1996 to 2001, racking up four 1,000-yard seasons in that time. “Lightning”, or Smith, was in the Jaguars uniform for longer, playing for the franchise from 1995 to 2005, putting together nine 1,000-yard seasons overall.

The two are No. 1 and No. 2 in team history in receiving yards, with Smith’s 12,287 nearly doubling McCardell’s total of 6,393. Smith is also the team leader in receiving touchdowns with 67. With the two men as the premier wideouts, the Jaguars went to four straight playoffs, including two AFC title games.
