14. Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, Baltimore Ravens
Even though Ray Lewis and Ed Reed both went to the University of Miami, that does not mean that they were the best of friends in college. In fact, with Lewis being older than Reed, the two were not close at all. Reed even went as far as telling people that he did not know Lewis during his time at The U.
However, once the two became teammates with the Baltimore Ravens, they instantly became like brothers, due to their similarities when it came to their work ethic and their will to win. As Ravens, the two anchored a defense that was consistently one of the best in football, becoming the best linebacker/safety tandem the league may have ever seen.
Reed and Lewis played together with the Ravens for 11 seasons. They both ended their Ravens careers on a high note, beating the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII. During their time as teammates, they won back-to-back NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors. Incredibly, they would be enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in consecutive years.
While Lewis was inducted in 2018, Reed will get his moment this summer, when he is enshrined as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2019. For these two teammates, their careers have had so many parallel paths. One thing is for sure, they are two of the more dominant players at their respective positions in NFL history.
