While they may have been known as “Batman and Robin” during their time together with the Chicago Bears, Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs both men played at a Pro Football Hall of Fame level.

Leading a Bears defense that was consistently ranked in the top 10 in the league, the two linebackers were one of the more dominant defensive duos in league history. They continue to be the best of friends to this day.

For Urlacher, he is widely regarded as one of the best linebackers in league history. He was enshrined as a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer in 2018.

He is on record in stating that the Robin to his Batman was also a Hall of Fame player. After eight years of 100-plus tackles, seven Pro Bowls, and three All-Pro selections, who could argue with him in saying that Briggs won’t earn a gold jacket one day?

Together, the tandem racked up more than 2,500 tackles and 56 sacks, while being named to 15 Pro Bowls. In addition, they led a Bears defense that went 13-3 during the 2006 NFL season, making it all the way to the Super Bowl. They would eventually lose to Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLI.

Still, this is one of those linebacker duos that will forever be linked. When you consider the rich history of the Bears franchise, they stand above all other defensive tandems in team history. Urlacher may be the only member of this duo in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but Briggs should be in serious consideration when he is eligible in 2020.
