23. Kurt Warner and Torry Holt, St. Louis Rams

Truth be told, we could have picked a couple of different duos from the St. Louis Rams team that took the NFL by storm over a three-year period from 1999 through 2001. Dubbed “The Greatest Show on Turf,” quarterback Kurt Warner and the Rams put up numbers that were out of a video game. The entire story of how it came to be is quite interesting.

Warner was stocking shelves when he was making his way to the NFL. After Trent Green went down with an injury in the 1999 NFL preseason, he was forced into action. From there, Warner would go on to not only be the NFL Rookie of the Year but the NFL MVP, after leading the Rams to a Super Bowl win in his rookie season.

During his time as the quarterback in St. Louis, Warner leaned on two exciting wide receivers in Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce. In Holt, who also was a rookie in 1999, Warner had a guy who would go on to be one of the more productive wideouts in the game for nearly a decade, as he racked up eight straight 1,000-yard seasons.

In the team’s victory against the Tennessee Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV, Warner hit Holt for a touchdown to put the Rams up 16-0, the first touchdown of the game. For a time, Warner, Holt and the rest of the Rams were the class of the NFL. No lists of elite NFL tandems can be complete without that run being represented.
