Washington Redskins: Breaking down Madden 20 player ratings
By Hunter Noll
Looking at the recently released Madden 20 player ratings for the Washington Redskins, who should be happy and who has a lot to prove?
The Madden 20 player ratings are here. It’s an exciting time for NFL fans and gamers alike. That means that everything surrounding the game is big news because there’s no alternative. With that in mind, the ratings being released means we get to look at the Washington Redskins roster and how EA Sports’ team assesses them.
A lot is overblown with these ratings. Every year, fans go absolutely nuts over ratings, complaining that some players are too low or high as if they won’t be updated and changed weekly.
Players have a chance to cause changes to their ratings with their play; this isn’t the end-all that it used to be back before internet access allowed roster updates.
Without further ado, let’s break things down.
Highest-Rated Players
We’ll start with some simple stuff. The five highest-rated players should come as no surprise. Trent Williams is the leader of the team with a 95 rating. He’s the only player on the Redskins to crack 90. Williams has been one of the best tackles in football his entire career and definitely deserves that honor.
Tight end Jordan Reed is next with an 88 rating, immediately followed by edge rusher Ryan Kerrigan and right guard Brandon Scherff, both of whom earned 87s. Reed has injury concerns, major ones. However, when healthy, he’s a dominant presence. Kerrigan is one of the best and most underrated pass-rushers in football but gets a great rating here. Meanwhile, Scherff’s 87 is strong as he looks to bounce back from injury.
Finally, we have a four-way tie for fifth-place (all players have 83 ratings). Those four players are safety Landon Collins, defensive linemen Matthew Ioannidis and Da’Ron Payne and running back Adrian Peterson. Ioannidis has turned himself into a fantastic defensive end and deserves this solid rating, while Peterson reminded everyone he can still go at running back last season.
We’ll touch on the other two later.
